othelladub's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no one standing at your door "An intellectual is a person who has discovered something more interesting than sex."
-- Aldous Huxley
waving from the vacuum How many times am I going to hear Beck's "All in your Mind" and feel as if a cough has erupted through my eyelids? Will I hear "Maps" one more time and not gurgle and spit; strain, strangle, and sprain : break, bruise, and bristle - vomit empathy? -- Ah. Then there's always "Are you gonna be my Girl," which, despite being used in commercials, is leather-dirty, vodka-purty, slippery barstool grime-happy, and spectacularly grease-heavy in just the right rock-star sense. QUESTION: WHY DO THE FOLLOWING 4 MOVIES REMIND ME OF 1 OTHER MOVIE? (extra credit to those merciful souls in the know) 1. The Royal Tenenbaums 2. Orange County 3. Trekkies 4. Flashdance And the film that all of those movies somehow reminds me of: 1. Moulin Rouge * (a close second would be The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Once again, Mark Ruffalo performs in the clutch.) ALSO: "Waving your guns for somebody new -" Yeh. That "Lost Cause" song by Beck also produces the bittersweet melancholy, which may be cliche - but still don't go down easy.
